Mule Days 2011

Bishop California is the Mule Capital of the World!  And
I am lucky enough to live only 40 minutes away ;)  Every Memorial
Day Weekend, people from all over the country come to Bishop to
show their prized mules and work really hard at different
competitions.  There is a big parade on Saturday which fills the
tiny town of 3,000 all the way up to 30,000.

My friend Cheryl's kids, Landon and Adison...typical parade
watching picture
And....they weren't just watching anyone...their dad is the one carrying the
American Flag, representing the Fire Department.  They were so
proud!

Right in front of where we were standing...$5 a circle, if a horse or mule pooped in your circle...you got the whole pot!
Death Valley was the original and only site for Borax mining.  Back in the 1800's, they got the Borax out by 20 mule teams and these wagons.  Pretty impressive to watch them.

It is easiest if you check out the shadow on the ground...yep, circle of mules

Awwwww....
Great day, great traditions
