Today I went shooting with my friend and co-worker, Chris. The best
part about it, besides the power (that which I am a fan of), was that Chris
was uber professional and super safe. We shot a .22 and a .45. I
preferred the dainty .22 I did alright with that one.

Okay, so we need to put this on our list of activities for August! Steve and I go shooting, but most of our ranges are indoors and I'd love to do an outdoor range. Yah!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, while we grew up with guns, and I taught marksmanship and gun safety at summer camps, and I still carry the bb in my knee where Lisa shot me, I have become so anti gun. Not just assault rifles, and military caliber, but all guns. I just don't see the point. They were never intended to spread rainbows, they were intended to kill. And now as an adult and a mother, I can't even see the recreational purpose in them. I look forward to the day when all guns, and bombs, and all the crazy shit intended for malice, go away.
ReplyDeleteYou look so professional, Stacie. I will check the indoor range down here and let you know. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteFrom the time my son could walk, he needed a weapon in his hand. I am convince it is nature's imprint. Men are warriors by nature and instinct. If I didn't let him have a toy gun, he made one out of lego's or sticks or body parts. I chose to educate rather than deny. I wanted him to know about guns, archery, tomahawks, slingshots. My shooting sport of choice is Archery! I like the quiet, building your own bow string and arrows. I am perfectly satisfied with target shooting and have no need to hunt or do anything clever or exotic with it. Cars kill more people than guns. Alcohol kills more people than guns. Guns are illegal in Mexico, so the only people that have them are the bad guys! The issue that we see play out in each gun shooting event is MENTAL ILLNESS and until we as a society begin to embrace, educate and treat those who suffer, the problems will persist.
