Festivals & Yosemite

People say..."You come to Mammoth for the winter, and you stay for the summer."  Summer is magical in the Sierras and I love taking full advantage.  Mammoth has got it "going on" this year.

My college buddy, Brendan, came up to enjoy some of the Sierras and that, we did!

McLeod Lake with the Sierra Crest in the background.

Click on the picture to enlarge....Brendan is standing in front of the bathrooms and it warns you about Natural Toxic Gas.  For those of you who don't know, Mammoth is a volcano and one of the lakes, Horseshoe Lake, has a problem with Carbon Dioxide.

My friend Clay came up to Mammoth to hike Mt. Whitney and stayed for some music.

We watched an incredible band called, "The Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars"

Jeffrey Blacknature, and check out the guy in front of him enjoying the music.  They were energy all the way and when you know that they went through 11 years of living in refugee camps, it makes the music that much more powerful.

Brendan and I with two of the band members!!

My ice friend, Cheryl!  We have made a point of taking pictures together at festivals this summer!

Clay and I at the Blue Sky Festival...Ozomatli was insane!

Brendan and I at Sam's Wood Site, great venue!

The day before Clay left, he and I went to Yosemite Valley and found this beach, with this view, sorry not going to give it away, because I don't want it to be published in Outside Magazines, 10 best beaches!  That is El Capitan.

Ducklings loved the beach too!

Clay baking in the sun.

The view to the left...

Oh yeah, the sprained ankle, turned into a broken chip of my talus (2nd largest bone in the foot).  I have to wear this thing for 6 weeks, ugh!  But it is better than surgery!!
