Bluesapalooza and Paul Bunyan

Every year, there is a festival in Mammoth, Bluesapalooza....blues and beer.  While I am not a huge Blue's fan and not a huge "hot sun middle of the afternoon beer drinker," I decided to join in (because my old roommate Andrew came up with his girlfriend and he bought me a ticket!)  It was a great time!
Andrew and myself

These girls said, "Yes, post the picture, we don't care!"  My friend Cheryl (met her in Antarctica) and her  good friend Jennifer.

Very dirty venue, but you are surrounded by trees and blue sky, beautiful!

So, last night, I decided to have a little drink and appetizer while I watched my neighbor Zac chop all of the wood they got in the forest that day.  He was wayyyyyyy into the photoshoot.
Megan, these are for you.

What real men do, drink beer and chop wood with a very sharp axe.

Action (it's lodgepole if any of you wood geeks care)

He wasn't posing, I am just a sneaky photographer....

Getting a little colder outside

Reaching for the beer!

Yes, he wanted the axe handle to be positioned like that...
It was fun to have such a great interactive model!

I could smell the fresh wood being split, how wonderful the late August summer hot days and cool nights are......Are you going to Fr. Andy's retirement party this weekend? I sent in my donation to his retirement, but will be camping in Ventura instead with the scouts. I am looking forward to the smell of pine and cool nights as well. Love, me

  3. Is Andrew the guy you shared an apartment in or near Laguna Beach? Also, it just so happens I was thinking of the time I was in Mammoth ---- for John L.'s christening. Your parents took Randy and I, plus Millie to a resturant SOUTH of Mammoth (I believe it was Convict Cove, or something like that). Is this anywhere near where Mike came through? That is what I meant, knowing the area. I saw Death Valley at Thanksgiving one year, it was gorgeous. Flowers everywhere, then the last day we nearly froze. Overnite the temp dropped to 30. Visited Yosemite many times, in summer only. One time left there by the upper road to Nevada. Going home. Beautiful blue lake, way up in the mountain. All of these remind me of places I can relate, when you or my children hike, travel or vacation. Kathy just got back from Gatlinburg (two weeks with her in-laws families.) JUst her and Dave hiked, beautiful pictures of waterfalls and they came within twenty feet of a bear cub (picture - dangerous) When I vacationed there with the family, we too saw a bear, only it was mom and baby and they were ten feet away, across the creek. Did not see the bear until we looked up. The ranger told us to just stay quiet and they would go away. They did, after my heart was pumpin. Marge

  4. Fun time in the mountains as usual...I think my lungs are finally back to normal after sucking in all that dust at the festival. Anne wanted me to tell you thanks for your hospitality. We are headed to beer & reggae fest at Del Mar on Saturday and we might end up seeing you in september at Del Mar. Take care..Andrew
