As a result of being "holed" up in my apartment, waiting for my foot to....DO SOMETHING...(actually, it is healing), I went into my very cool cedar chest that I picked up at a garage sale for $50 about a decade ago. My sister Nancy was the first person to introduce me to knitting, in fact, I even came across two patterns she gave to me long ago, that were some of my first knitting projects.
In the past two years, I have resorted to knitting simple things to just "use up" some of my yarn stash (see pics below).
Since my foot injury, I have decided to spruce up the projects. I have become totally "into" advancing my knitting skills. There is so much to knit out there.
So, much to my surprise (I knew it was in there), when I opened up my cedar chest, I found this sweater...(Pattern by Reynolds...Yarn: Lambs Pride)
I knit it over 10 years ago and when I bound off, the neck was way too tight; therefore, instead of ripping it out and loosening it, I stuck it in the chest and have never even worn it...total knitting sin. So, today, while watching one of my favorite movies...Before Sunset (Markus, you introduced me to the sequel and Nancy, you introduced me to Before Sunrise, thank you, they are brilliant!), I ripped out the 10 year old tight bind off, re-did it and now it lay on my carpet, drying from being blocked, yep...blocked. I'm so excited; in fact, my big jaunt out today will be going to the post office and guess what I'm going to wear!
Later on, I think I'm going to tackle this guy. It is a felted "courier" bag from Knit 2 Together. I knit and felted it over three years ago... I'm going to do some cool embroidery on it that I have been doing some research on...wish me luck!

well you are quite the productive and busy person... I should send all of my half finished or finished and disappointed projects to you... there are many...
ReplyDeleteYou are inspiring me to find all of my yarn that is tucked in every possible nook in the house... and do something fun with it... knitters slump of sorts...
Damn, I thought you were going to say 'and after I fixed the sweater, I went to the post office to mail it to Lisa'. Duped again:) I love your projects Stace!
ReplyDeleteHi Stacie! Doug's mom (re)taught me how to knit over her Christmas visit. I now have a sum total of about three inches toward my first ever dishcloth. It's so much harder than it looks, which in my eyes makes something like that sweater just incredible! How beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHope the leg starts healing quickly...

PS I also wanted to tell you thanks for the inspiration. At least in part because of your blog and the idea of it being a sort of sounding board for your own committments, I too started a little space of my own. If you want to check it out some time, my google profile should link to it.
