Cloud's Rest 2012

My third time hiking to Cloud's Rest in Yosemite...and not my last...so beautiful up there!
My friend Mike went with me and had never been there in all of his 10 years living in
the Eastern Sierra.  He was stoked!  It is a 16 mile out and back hike and well worth
the many steep inclines....

The spine up to Cloud's Rest

Yosemite Valley from on top of cloud's Rest...Half Dome to the left.

The Spine...see the lake in the upper left hand corner-ish...That is Tenaya Lake, our starting point

Mike on top of the spine...on top of the world!

Looking back on Cloud's Rest

Ran into this guy on the trail.   My friend and I had given him a ride on the 4th of July.  He is what is called a "through hiker".  He is hiking the Pacific Crest Trail...from mexico to canada.  This is about his halfway mark.  Pretty cool to see him on the trail so many miles away from where we just saw him a week before.

Love this...a baby pine cone landed softly in a giant leaf....are you my mother??

  1. Stace, I love love your blog- and this update especially. I learned what a "through hiker" is! I read it to Steve. One day we want to come up to visit and do some hiking. One question - any spas or cocktail lounge on the route? HAHAHA
    Miss you! Deanna

Can't wait to see if for myself.....we are only there for 2 days and due to an artificial knee and fused ankle can only hike about 2 or 3 miles...any suggestions? THANKS!

  4. How can you do that to this weak heart of mine? Never, ever show me scarey pictures of what you do. Just kidding. Love you. Mom
