Cloud's Rest

Today, I realized that I need to get going on some long hikes because I will be doing Mt. Whitney in less than a month.  I chose to hike Cloud's Rest just outside of Tuolomne Meadows in Yosemite.

Tenaya Lake, the start of my hike

After 7 miles, you come to this...daunting and a little scary

But this is the view.  That is Half Dome about 1 cm. from the left of the pic.  Yosemite Valley is just below it.

Here is the spine of Cloud's Rest.  Scary because it is a pretty shear drop off on both sides.  I didn't let it play with my head though!

These big leafy plants are everywhere, it reminds me of prehistoric venus flytraps or something!

Pretty flowers

Thank goodness I finished my hike when I did because it started to pour.  They are repaving the road; therefore, I had a chance to snap this shot of the rain.

  2. oooooo, that ridge reminds me too much of Angels Landing - anything scary does - except the shear drop is about 1,800 ft there. Glad you pulled it together - the rewards are many.

Get lots of stair master hikes under your belt because that is all that damn stairway to Whitney heaven is all about.
