LA Style...

Last night, my good college friend Brendan, took me to dinner in LA.  I was up there for the day and he told me to meet him at The Avalon Hotel, a very non-descript hotel from the outside, in a residential neighborhood.

Oh my gosh!  This hotel was soooo my style.  Very retro, laid back, with a little city flair.  The best part about it was, they sat us at one of the cabanas by the pool (usually by reservation only), because they wanted us to enjoy our time there.  Impeccable service, awesome ambiance, and even better than the cabana, was the price of dinner.

At first, I was checking out the menu prices and the math in my head added up to about $40 per person after salad, entree, and a drink.  Ugh...but oh well, I was all the way up in LA and I love spending time with Brendan, so...justification (I'm really good at justifying!)

Then, the waitress came over and said sweetly, "Oh, here is the happy hour menu."

I had an arugala salad with shaved parmesan and pine nuts, a hefty portion of all three.  Next was a personal pizza with goat cheese and smoked salmon...delish! I also had a decaf coffee and an arnold palmer.  Brendan had the same thing, but with a glass of wine...total for both $30!  It was such a deal!!  The salad was $3 and the pizza was $3!!!

I will be back there for sure!
